This 50’ long Viking Longship was custom designed and fabricated for the History Channel Series - Vikings. The ship was designed using historical references of recovered Viking Ships and imagery of longships from the set. A nautical engineer was hired to oversee the process as the ship had to be capable of withstanding ocean currents and waves with the placement in the San Diego Bay, receiving sign-off from the San Diego Fire Dept. and the Coast Guard. The ship was built entirely from fire resistant materials up to 2500 degrees to withstand the live fire experience which was led by experts in pyrotechnics.
